WHO ARE WE?
WE ARE SURFERS, NATURE LOVERS AND AGENTS FOR CHANGE…WE ARE THOSE WHO VALUE THE OCEAN AND WANT TO PROTECT IT.
The time has come for the entire surf community to unite and raise awareness among the general population.
With the Paddle OUT ceremony, we will achieve the necessary visibility for such an important cause.
Every year thousands of tons of garbage are left in the oceans and beaches without any care. It is our mission to claim from the competent authorities the periodic and permanent removal of garbage, as well as the placement of containers, adequate to the needs of each beach.
We intend to organize meetings to discuss the problems facing the ocean and coastline, to expose specific causes and their solutions. Get the necessary support and connect potential partners to turn these initiatives into real projects.
It is our objective to create actions and projects for the protection of beaches in partnership with Surf Clubs and Surf Schools, Town Councils, Municipalities, Schools and the Ministry of Education and other competent entities.
WE DEPEND ON THE OCEAN FOR OUR OWN EXISTENCE
PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN AND PORTUGUESE BEACHES
We need to reduce the amount of plastic waste we produce by individually boycotting institutions not sensitive to the issue and supporting those that are, improve waste collection, reuse and recycle plastics.
UNCONTROLLED AND NEGLECTED CARAVANNING ON THE WEST COAST
The enormous flow of Caravans and the irresponsible and unhygienic behavior of this type of Tourism is affecting the Costa Vicentina Natural Park.
Commercial maritime activities is primarily responsible for the abandonment, loss or disposal of these materials in the open sea. Along coastal areas, the main culprits are located on land.
OIL EXPLORATION IN THE ALGARVE AND WEST COAST
The hydraulic fracturing offers great risks and irreversible ecological damages, compromising the environment, the health of the populations and aggravate seismic risk.
